Notes

Nov. 6, 2011 ~
I guess this is a study on buttons. This is not a new project but rather a revised one. New buttons and unbelted, it has been my go-to sweater throughout the year. I wanted the photos here to match the changes I have made. I believe the white of the buttons as well as the white shirt underneath gives it the brightness I need around my face. Long live the hoodie!

Jan. 9, 2011 ~
I have always loved attention to back detail and this hoodie exemplifies such a look. That was my inspiration for choosing this pattern. I knew I wanted a rich color to accentuate the depth of the cable.
This was knitted in the round, sleeves separately, then attached to the body as you continue upward keeping the beautiful cable as you increase and shape for the opening and neckline.

MY TIPS
~Row gauge is important as well as stitch gauge. The directions are written assuming you are getting the recommended row gauge.

~Keep to the cable pattern throughout the hood. Do not turn to the rib pattern too soon. I had lots of ripping out here as I was unsuspecting as to how much more of the hood needed to be knitted. Keep going with the cable.

~This is regarding the yoke and placket. The reason why some knitters have met with confusion is this: Simply put, you must have 1 MORE row and be on an EVEN no. row with the RIGHT sleeve BEFORE joining it to the body. AND, you must be on on ODD no. row with the LEFT sleeve and BODY at the point of conjoining. The reason for the 1 row increase on the right sleeve is because the pattern has you knit across the body, across the left sleeve and then TURN smack dab in the middle of a round to begin the placket. That adds one more row to the left sleeve at that point. You must adhere to the odd/even suggestion as it will allow you to continue the cable pattern going back and forth on your rounds as opposed to working in the round as you had been doing.

~I came very close to running out of yarn. I might have about 1 yard left over, too close for comfort for me. Be aware.
