Project info
#28 Striped Pullover by Edna Hart
enjoyment of fashion
Needles & yarn

It’s all about the leg-o-mutton sleeves …

Body front and back were completed easily.
The sleeves are a bit fussy but I think I’ve got them figured out.

Errata of pattern (sleeves) and what I did:

  • 6 rather than 5 short rows to begin cap. You want to be on the RS for next step in pattern.
  • Row before inc for puff, cast on 2 st at beg of next 2 rows, not 3 rows. Again, you want to be on the RS for next step in pattern.
  • Work those 2 stitches, as discussed above, into increase pattern for puff. 86 in all, as pattern says.

Personal edits:

  • Of course, I followed the pattern of my striping.
  • Ribbed 6 rows for the bottom of back and front. Pattern says rib for 2 rows, not substantial enough for me.
  • Neckline ribbing ~ same. I have 6 rows of ribbing for nice 1 inch rib edging that matches the bottom ribbed edging as well as the width of the stripes, not 2 rows.
  • Sleeve after puff ~ the entire sleeve is a ribbed stripe, not st st, beginning with 1 needle size larger than what I had been using for better fit at the top of the arm, then I went back to needle size I used for entire project near the bottom to have sleeves taper. Great fit.
  • All rib in (k1,p1). All pieces have an even number of stitches so, when seamed, the rib lines up perfectly in pattern.
  • Great stash buster. 50% of this is from remnant stash. Some of the yarns are of different fibers, similar weight.

If you’re wondering about the Challenge, as referenced in the name, information is HERE.
