Notes

Some designers and knitters are inspired by nature while others actually knit nature. :) This pattern caught my attention due to its whimsy and delightful design. And, kudos to the designer for those detailed finishing touches! Joy is what I call it with its baby blue hand-dyed sky and light yellow sunlight streaming in from behind that cute pocket cloud. It was the perfect summer project for me and taught me a few things:
This requires st st grafting to form the hood.
Hint on grafting: Rid yourself of distractions. Say the steps out loud, literally as you are working them. Somehow, this limited confusion for me.
Icord trims all the edges, 3 stitch around the hem, sleeves, and eventually the neckline after the must-have hood is knitted by picking up stitches around the neckline. 5 stitch icord details the cloud. I’ve learned that this is a very effective way of finishing. The pocket is then appliqued onto the body leaving openings for cloud-pocket access. Every detail is a must for the full effect of Joy.
