12 rows each color w/4 rows natural inbetween x 2
AND 4 rows natural beg and end.
Color progression & grams used
61.2g - 3858 Sunburst
57.9g - 3749 Marigold
59.2g - 3829 Papaya
58.9g - 3750 Tangerine
60.4g - 3862 Ember
61.6g - 3823 Tomato
62.5g - 3713 Wine
63.1g - 3714 Burgundy
61.0g - 3846 Purple Velvet (had already in stash)
60.6g - 3725 Cobalt
60.2g - 3800 Blueberry
238.3g - 3718 Natural (stripes)
48.1g - 3718 Natural (i-cord border)
Each row takes me about 13-14 minutes to knit or purl. Blanket has 364 rows so at 13.5min per row, this took about 81.9 hours to knit* and about a week to complete i-cord edging as I was not knitting it full-time.
Patty Lyons’ “Improved SSK” NOT used. Did regular SSK and then purled that st thru the back loop when purling on the next row. Purled all other sts normally on even rnds.
MIR/MIL instead of YOs as mention in other people’s projects.
After CO, first row only did forward and backwards loops for increases instead of MIR and MILs. See this instructional.
Once complete, did an applied i-cord border around all 4 sides.
4-stitch Applied I-Cord border in Natural:
Tried one size larger (size 7) needle for applied i-cord border for a little bit. Felt it needed more give so restarted using 2 sizes larger needle (size 8) for applied i-cord border. Worked better. Picked up and held sts on a different (size 6) circular as the smaller needle size made picking up sts and passing back & forth easier.
Followed the Applied I-Cord Corner Turn video on chevron points and transitioning from vert side to horiz side and vice versa, except I did 2 rnds (not 1 rnd) extra i-cord since I was working with pointy chevrons and not just rounding a square corner.
I-cord Kitchener join worked out 98% well. Not 100% perfect but pretty close.

Did regular BO (forgot to do Icelandic like I did for prior lapghan).
Completed 08.27.2023
Machine washed regular, cold with Tide Ultra Free. Medium dryer.
*Knitting of this blanket was interrupted by many things, including Grandma going into 2 different care homes and eventually dying April 21st, Mom’s first knee replacement June 13, cat going blind and developing terminal cancer and dying July 25.
Restarted 03.30.2023 after one color stripe. Need 11 repeats instead of 10 for width.
