For VHC project.

Sun face size: 10.5cm W x 9.5cm H
Size w/rays: ~6.5” x 5.5”
Orange rays: ~1.5”
Yellow rays: ~1.25”

17.3g yellow for sun face
6.2g yellow for rays
15.3g orange for rays & face

Knit the sun face in the round and then closed up bottom w/invisible horiz st st seam. Kitchener to close top. Wove in kitchener seam tail using duplicate stitch.

Then picked up 4 sts for each ray (2 from right side/2 from wrong side of face). Knit 2 on one needle and 2 on another needle in the round. Then moved all 4 sts to one needle and began i-cord. Pulled tail thru 4 sts when i-cord complete. Wove in starting tail for each i-cord into the completed ray using duplicate stitch, then wove in ending tail in/out of end of completed ray.

12-14 rows i-cord for orange rays (19 rays)
10-12 rows i-cord for orange/yellow rays (19 rays)

Knitting on 38 rays and weaving in all of the ends was extremely tedious and took me several days. And I have a high threshold for knitting tedium.

Held yellow yarn double for sun face, orange double for longer rays and 1 strand yellow & 1 orange for shorter rays.

Duplicate stitch w/orange held double for eyes and nose and then did a sort of embroidered chain stitch for the mouth/smile (also holding yarn double).
