Notes

I made/adapted this pattern of two lindy hoppers dancing.

The plan was to knit this with intarsia… until a friend explained to me that this would require at least 10 balls of yarn of varying sizes…

Continuing the tradition of playing around with a beer coozie before working on a larger project, I made a few attempts.

Pictures from bottom to top:
1) The pattern, which took me about a day to figure out.

2 & 3) First I tried purling the pattern on a knit background. Which worked, but the pattern is too hard to see.

4 & 5) Next I figured out how to embroider the second color on top of the knitting using duplicate stitch. It’s a little patchy, but overall I’m very pleased with how this looks.

6) The finished product was curling at the bottom edge (silly stockinette), so I embroidered a couple rows at the bottom. This was actually the last thing I did.

Finished product:
7-9) I used needle size 4 instead of 6 to have more stitches to work with. The difference in stitches was still only 39 for the beer coozie vs 43 for the wine cozy, even with the needle size change. The wine cozy might be a tad too small for some bottles, so I probably could have used an extra stitch or two. I did a short twisted rib pattern at the top instead of garter stitch, which looks nice, but I should have made an even number of stitches.

I didn’t put a bottom on this one so it can be pulled down over the top of the bottle. With the ribbing at the top, it would be too difficult to pull the bottle through the other way.

My embroidery got noticably better as well, much fewer orange speckles visible in the brown pattern.

Overall, I’m extremely proud of the dancers pattern itself, and I’m very pleased with how this project as a whole turned out.
