Replica of the S18 Exhibition scarf used on the Tom Baker waxwork figure at Madame Tussauds, London - known in Who scarf knitting circles as the S18WW (Season 18 waxworks) scarf.

This scarf is NOT made from chenille, as thr original was, due to the complete unavailability of chenille yarns at the time of knitting. However, the acrylic yarns used were matched to the original Sirdar wool chenille the original scarf was made from, and they are a VERY close match, perfect in some cases. This scarf does look lighter than the original, but that is a trick of the light and the camera used. Yarn type aside, great pains were taken to make this scarf as close to a perfect screen-accurate replica as was possible, given the available photo documentation of the original.

This scarf follows the same pattern as the Exhibition (or Waxworks) S18 scarf, which is even longer than the S18 used on the television show (believe it or not!) due to slightly differing row counts and a few extra color blocks at the cast-off end. The original TV scarf had 52 color blocks (plus interchanges), and the original waxworks scarf had 56 plus interchanges. Also, the TV scarf had the crocheted border done along the front side of the scarf in terra cotta; the Exhibition scarf (and hence, this scarf) have the border done on the reverse side in eggplant (purple).

The final length of this scarf, including tassels, is 24 feet 7 inches (295 inches), unblocked and at rest. It will almost certainly stretch out more as it’s worn, so I didn’t bother to block it.
