Notes

I found these on Wollmeise’s blog - I hadn’t discovered the pattern was on Ravelry, I just found fthem while surfing, so it may not link to the Handschmeichler pattern. Anyway, I LOVED them!
Even though I had no idea at the time how to make a buttonhole or do a three-needle bind-off, I took a deep breath, followed her directions, and they were not all that difficult and a ton of fun to make!! They are knitted on double-pointed needles, and lengthwise - a design which was new to me. But with just a few sizing adjustments, they turned out nearly perfect. I also added a crocheted picot edging to the thumbs for a little added laciness and color contrast; these are not in the original pattern.

Oh, and these gloves are actually reversible, which is cool! You can see this in photo #1. I tuck the thumbs inside when I wear them this way, but you could also knit them without the thumbs if you wish to wear them this way primarily, with the lacy part covering the hands.

(The following was written before I discovered Claudia’s pattern on Ravelry, and knew only about her blog.)

Wollmeise’s pattern - among many other wonderful patterns, including her Möbius-Wrap - can be found on her blog. This particular mitt pattern, with detailed instructions in German and English, is here:

And also, I’m amazed at how different the colors look in different lighting - just compare photos 2 and 4 to photos 1, 3, and 5. The difference is truly astounding. Yes, it is the same pair of gloves!
