This hat was my pattern, and the band of ribbing is not what it looks like — not an actual band of ribbing. It’s a different stitch that’s thick and warm, and I’ve rarely done ribbing since I’ve discovered this.

It uses a tuck for the decorative band, which is fabulous – because it’s just knitted, it will stretch and give like the rest of the hat so you don’t have to worry about getting it exactly the right length.

This skein of the Tweed Stripes must have been defective, and should have been tossed. Very disappointing. I’ve used this brand before many times, it was excellent.

It’s usually a bit soft and fluffy, and adds a lovely touch.
