Notes

Cast on June 4th using size 8 needles (size 7 did not get me the gauge I had projected).

I’m fiddling with the pattern and hybridizing it with Knitty’s Haiku sideways-knit baby sweater in the hopes of creating something appropriate for a baby. I do not have any babies for size reference, so this will be a heck of an adventure.

Update: The extent of my hybridization turned out to be “use the measurements from Haiku to figure out what size to aim for”.

I was going to try and use Moda Dea’s Knit Star Pillow for the star on the center of the chest, to better match the slightly off-white color of the stripes. However, I was unsatisfied with the pointiness, and ended up following a slightly different pattern.

I made five points by casting on 3 stitches, then kfb on both edges on the RS until I had 10 stitches (accidentally), then joined all five points in the round and decreased by ssp and k2tog at each edge of the “diamond”. This resulted in a really obvious line of decreases, but eh… good enough.
