Looped Yarn Works in Washington, District of Columbia
Notes

Last summer, I visited Washington, D.C. on a work trip, and it happened to be the week of the Metro Yarn Crawl. I was going to visit some local shops anyway, so I jumped in. I got this kit from Looped Yarn Works as a make-your-own souvenir-type project. The pattern features DC landmarks I saw on my trip and the flag of the district.

This hat does fit a little snugly, likely because of the color work and corrugated rib, though it is not constricting. I might size up if I ever make it again, but it wouldn’t be a complete necessity. Be careful with the kit, though, as I only had exactly enough blue yarn to make the medium—I had about a foot left when it was time to draw the end through the last stitches in the crown. There’s plenty of the two contrast colors, though, and I ended up doing the flag in red, as it really is, rather than in the white the pattern calls for.

I really liked the corrugated rib, and might try another hat in this style, either plain or with a different color work pattern.
