1/16/2010: took it apart because it was still too big. cast on 40 stitches (needle size us11) and it now seems just right.

bow - worked in moss stitch with the red yarn (needle size us8): i cast on 10 stitches. worked one row. increased 1 stitch both at the beginning and end of the next row (12 stitches) and worked about 38 rows or so.

then, when i decided i was going to end the bow i made sure i was on a wrong side row, i decreased 1 stitch both at the beginning and end of that 2nd to the last row (leaving me with 10 stitches) and worked last row (on the right side) before binding off on the wrong side. (the point of this was to have the bind-off on the back of the work)

i knit a little strip to go around the center, 4 stitches wide, about 10 rows long (you’ll have to play with the strip and your bow to see what length works for your bow)

going to knit this in the round because i’m too lazy to sew… although i do plan on closing up the top - probably with kitchner stitch

cast on with 60 stitches but it was too big. cast on with 52 stitches and i think it might be just right.
