Notes

it is very hard to capture the victorian gothic color correctly. there is a gorgeous pink/purple hue to the yarn, as well as a dusty greyish hue.

-- Decided against using a larger needle for the fairisle parts. I am already a loose knitter and I suspect I will be OK. I’ve practiced enough fairisle in my life to adjust my tension properly. yea for practice and perseverance!

--- Originally I was going to used begonia leaf as the CC, but after knitting about an 1” of the fairisle pattern decided it didn’t “pop” enough for all that effort of fairisle-ing.
Took a chance, didn’t work. No harm done.
Gossamer is a much better choice… and it almost acts as a metallic when it peaks through the victorian gothic.

When I look at the fairisle from different angles it almost looks like a jumble of color with no order. I can’t remember fairisle ever doing this before. It could be because I am using madelinetosh, which is a hand dyed yarn, in semi solids.

-- the yoke was plenty long enough with doing 7 rows instead of 12 before the short row shaping (after the fairisle)

  • used tubular bind off for neck.
