I came up with this wide edging myself. I needed it to:

  • have a small stitch multiple,
  • come out 2.5” - 3” wide,
  • not ruffle,
  • and not bore me :-)

I love the fringe effect! I tested several didn’t fringe loop lengths. Longer loops twist up stubbornly. Shorter loops than these don’t really have a fringe look to me.

Wet blocking makes a huge difference with the fringe and the finished overall border width. (See photo of blocked vs unblocked sections.) I still have part of it to block before I can start using it in the kitchen.

The hook size is small for this yarn. The stitches are tight on purpose.

This is my first time crocheting an edging onto plastic-coated fabric. It was much easier than I expected. The fabric was actually quite thin, and is likely intended for sewing raincoats or other water-repellent clothing (rather than home decor?) The coating added a lot of body to it; doubled its thickness probably.
