This handy li’l guy was originally sketched up and proposed for a book of felted crochet projects back in the summer of 2007. I don’t remember if I actually sent it off to the publisher for consideration, because by the time I was done making the prototype, I didn’t enjoy the process for felting-in the alphabet beads. Also, once felted it was difficult to get it to hang evenly and flat, and that bugged me.

Eventually I tried this basic idea again, without the felting, and with those alphabet brads that they make for scrapbookers. It’s now no-fuss, faster to make, and more fun, so I’ve added the pattern to my Ravelry store.
