NEWS! I’ve revised and expanded this pattern for my own indie pattern line! It’s in Ennis Revelation

This is the prototype for two different published designs: the two-skein Ennis Shawl in the Interweave Crochet Summer 2013 issue; and the earliest inspiration for my own self-published Aero Wrap.

I named it “Quartz” because it was the first time I swatched tall Tunisian stitches that created what made me think of “facets” or “windows.” I used the side to side (or “point to point”) triangular shawl construction because I had only one skein of the yarn and had no idea how far it would go.

Turns out Tunisian lace stitch patterns do no eat up yarn, so this one-skein version is even wide enough that I can tie it around my waist; which I often do in the summer. I can’t imagine a better yarn for this design. It’s a tube yarn so it doesn’t split, and the bamboo loop slide on the hook, and block with incredible drape. By the way, it’s not showing wear! What a bonus! Even after bunching it up in my beach bag!
