Notes

The letters are Tunisian crochet for a change. They flowed off the hook surprisingly easily. I had to rip out and redo very little of it. Surprising because letters are the ultimate shaping challenge.

Crocheted with two strands of the same color held together throughout except the letters. I had a white and cream on hand at the time I started swatching, so they’re a strand of each color. Total of 10 of the 20 colors of Lotus scraps I have at hand for such cathartic swatching.

The background came together smoothly too. The pattern repeats happened to correspond really nicely with the number of letters and their spacing. (It wasn’t planned, it was just the first exploratory swatch to remember how to do the stitch pattern.)

So, to be able to start with the deep inky black yarn in my dark, dark mood and JUST KEEP GOING, up through colors that gradually brightened and lightened, and to end up with something I like to look at and show others, has been the best gift this week. Color therapy.

If this remains a poster, maybe a bottom edge of fat tassels is in order, and a tassel at each end of a hanging dowel? Otherwise this could turn into a pillow top. Or, mounted on the front of a black tote bag like I originally pictured.

It weighs 150g; 15g of it is the letters.
