Notes

Wasn’t sure what weight this small-farm yarn is. I settled on a 5.5 mm I hook for the slip stitch ribbing, then switched to a 5 mm H hook for the rest. It took me an hour or two to do the initial ribbing.

My goal with the ribbing is for it to hug my ears when I pull it up over my head like a hood. I’ve worn the original rainbow Orbit A LOT, including as a hood. To do so I wove a drawstring through its rim.

The angora halo—which will start blooming as I wear it—will fill in the stitches and the ribbing should be nearly airtight!

The initial image is after the first night’s start and I used up most of the first ball. Maybe all three balls will get me a the generous length similar to the original rainbow Orbit.

Not sure because although labeled 1.5 oz (42.5 g), two balls weigh 38g! and one is 41-42g. I love this yarn though for its soft dyeing and for its full fluff being contained until AFTER it’s crocheted.

DONE

I super love this. I added a few more rounds to the border and blocked it; photos not uploaded yet. I forgot how beautifully angora blocks, especially handspun.

Weighs 85g and I have 31g left over, just enough for a matching ribbed ear warmer/headband.

Wrote up the draft of the pattern. Working out the math of the border.
