Notes

This design has sort of a wrought-metal look. I think it’s the tight crab stitch edging that frames it. The big holes give it a Tiki-face look to me.
.
Crocheting two strands of Lotus together worked out really well for this and was easy. I think it only took me an hour to make, or less. It has a great surface texture and good structure at this tight gauge—so tight that I spray-blocked it and it didn’t go limp or slippery, but only compacted more.
While blocking I smoothed and opened up the spaces and clasp with my fingers, and pinched the clones stalks. I sort of bunched or fluffed the puff stitches to emphasize them more.
.
I crocheted over the beginning yarn end and crocheted tightly. Left the other yarn end long and wove it into the clones knot buttons a bit to make them dense and neat looking.
