1/4/12: Worked Chart A for 4.5 repeats before starting the gusset increases….Gotta quit falling asleep at night…

Sock one finished 1/7/12? Modification made for fit: the original pattern called for ending the sock cuff 4.5 inches above the heel flap, which would have been lower calf for me. So, I ended the cuff mid calf at 8.5 inches above the heel flap.

Issues with sock 1: Since cotton has no elasticity, the fact that this sock does not call for a tightly knit ribbing was surprising, but I decided to follow the designer’s instructions. WRONG MOVE. The bind off is the only thing keeping these socks on my leg and I’m sure that if I choose to wear these to bed, they’ll slip right down my leg…I may choose, in future, to rip out the “garter ribbing” and knit a k1p1 ribbing.

Issues with sock 2: As noted with sock 1, the lack of elasticity is an issue with cotton socks, so I switched to a k1, p1 ribbing (about .5 in) before the tubular bind off. As suspected, the bind off is the ONLY thing keeping he socks on my legs.
