I made this pattern up. It features a braided edge and I’m particularly happy with the pattern of the top.
In honour of the recipient, it is patterned with lutes/banjos/random stringed instruments (fiddles were tricky and didn’t look right) and Scottish dancers, hence the name “Jigs and Reels”.
Here’s hoping Heather likes it!
Additional note: The teal feels almost the same weight as Patons Classic Wool, which is what the accent colours are. I bought the wool years and years ago at a close-out sale and the bits in this hat were the left-overs from a large sweater (too large, as it turned out). The yardages are just guesses, since this hat was made of odd bits left-over from other projects.
I hope to make the chart available for download eventually, but need to test knit it a couple of times, first, with actual yardages calculated. It was a slightly long hat, so I may fiddle with the brim a little. Anyone wanting the chart (if you’re interested in test-knitting) can drop me a line, providing an email address, and I’ll send it along.
