It normally takes me 2 - 3 months to make an adult human sweater; I just finished this one in…really, no kidding…a personal-record-breaking 15 days.

15 DAYS.

It was a Broadway knitting emergency!

What happened was: the creative team of the Broadway musical Mrs. Doubtfire decided that they needed 17 exact copies of a particular costume — a costume that includes a one-of-a-kind hand-knit cardigan. So now they needed to somehow hand knit 17 more of them — in one month. ONE MONTH.

As a theater person and knitter, it’s like my whole life has been preparing me for this moment. When word of this reached me I said PUT ME IN, COACH. I enlisted in the blue cardigan army.

15 extremely focused days later, in the midst of what was already an eventful month, it’s done. I am exhausted, invigorated, and proud as hell.

So if you happen to catch a new musical this spring, and see a bunch of cozy blue cardigans appear on the stage, just know: one of those is my baby.
