Notes

When I first discovered this technique called Entrelac, I was fairly new to knitting. I thought it looked amazing and I’d never seen anything like it before. Now, 10 month later, I think I’m ready to start my own. Who would have thought?

30.08.2012: 28/210 Squares
A more colorful yarn would be more fun, but I think I’ll like the subtle result in the end.
I’m already pondering what yarn to choose for the i-cord. Contrasting color, matching or same? But that’s far in the future ;)

15.10.2012: 36/210 Squares
(More of an on & off project? Had some swap-knitting to do and some other beautiful projects crossed my queue. Whups)

21.10.2012 63/210
Realized I picked up the stitches incorrectly when on the wrong side. As my colors are rather subtle, the purl bumps are not that obvious, so I’ll just let it be.

17.02.2013 85/210
So came by to knit a few squares today.
Gave the backwards knitting another try, I’m still a little uncomfortable with it but I think If I’ll exercise a bit more, it’ll pay off.

It’s a little late for that but: Why do I have to slip the first stitch after k/p2tog? I unterstand slipping stitches will make it easier to pick up stitches in the next tier but I’ll never pick up stitches from that side again as it is already knitted together with a different square?
Edit: It’ll look and feel “knotty” otherwise…

18.02.2013 94/210
25.04.2013 143/210
04.05.2013 196/210
29.05.2013 knitting done, icord is waiting.
27.06.2013 i-cord done finally. knit some socks in between but i-cord definitly takes a few evenings.
28.06.2013 It’s done! I’m not entirely confident of the tassels. I gave them a little haircut to make them a little shorter.

I-cord: After some fiddling around, I came to the conclusion that I prefer knitting the I-Cord with the wrong side facing me. It results in a cleaner look on the front side (see pictures).
The i-cord seemed to add a little to much tension on the two end spikes which caused some weird curling - this was entirely gone after blocking.

Yarn: I can’t really recommend the Zauberball - it has thicker and thinner parts and the difference between those are just to big. Sometimes it feels like you are working with lace, sometimes it feels like at least DK weight… Of course, the colors are great and they have a good availability, at least in Germany. But if you have an alternative, it’s probably better.
Concerning softness - its defintly a little sturdy - after all it’s still a sport weight sock yarn but it does soften up with blocking.
