Experimenting mixing 87 with 358. The bright reds and blues mixed with the grays look good in a swatch. Size 9 needle knit in the round

start “Siamese” sleeves with crochet provisional cast-on and discover that the bluish grays look terrible with many of the rest of the rainbow colors.

let’s try alternating stripes of rainbow with a different skein of the rainbow. No dulling of the colors but I think my friends were being kind when they said it was a bit bright.

Inspired by NanaKknit’s Resistance, I made a swatch using 87 and 269 (cream and light brown), trying rainbow stripes of two and four rows. This swatch knit back and forth with a size 8 needle.

93 st so far on sleeve
Original cuff length is 5.2 inches or less, so sleeve stockinette is 12.8 inches or longer
Original pattern measurements
Sleeve ribbing length: 5 in
Sleeve main: 13 in
Sleeve cap: 7 in
Back width at arm hole: 109 st, 27.25 in
Upper back: 77 sts, 19.25 in across.
(My purple jacket has about 6.5 inches sleeve cap, 18 inches at top back, 25.5 at top bottom)
Original pattern math
Sleeve ribbing: 33 rows * 4in/26 rows = 5.08 in
Sleeve length: 18 in - 5 in ribbing = 13 in
Sleeve cap is 2+2+2+10+4+4+2+10+1+4+4+1=46
46 st * 4st/26in = 7.08 inches high
Back at arm hole is 109 sts across, 27.25 in across.
109st * 4 in/16 st = 27.25 in but the pattern diagram says 26.75 inches at the bottom but you’ll lose two sts to seaming. No big deal.
