In 2003 I knitted a Weasley Sweater because the Potter books meant a lot to me. Then 17 years later JK Rowling turned into a litigious, fascist TERF punching down at people who really, really don’t deserve it. She has profoundly disappointed millions of fans who thought better of her.

I threw away my books and merch, and for many years, I didn’t wear my sweater.

Then in 2026, I decided to fix it. I undid the duplicate stitch letter on the front, and I replaced it with PROTECT THE DOLLS.

Trans women are women, and JK Rowling sucks.

This was my third project from The Sweater Workshop and it turned out great. Since I couldn’t figure out how to knit the letter in as I went (and later learned that it’s impossible when knitting circularly anyway), I embroidered the “K” on afterwards with Swiss darning.
