So hopefully to make this less confusing for people… This hat is worked from both ends of the cast on. Cast on and with working yarn, purl that row back. Slide the work down and with a new needle, and the long tail, pick up the same amount of stitches from the cast on. I worked this with two needles. You could also work this with magic loop.

For those of you still confused , I made a tutorial and put it on you tube I hope it helps!

Also I elected to finish the neck with, going down 2 needles sizes with a 2 x 2 rib for three rows and then cast off in pattern using JSSBO. I then picked up every three of four stitches around the hood and again did a 2 x 2 rib for 3 rows and cast off in pattern. I did not use JSSBO on the face opening. I finished with the steam blocking and that really made the whole hood look professional.

This is a quick knit and once you do one, easy to customize. The hood uses about 220 yards of aran weight yarn.

#2 hood, green, knit with illimani amelie. Blocked gauge was 19s x 26r on #9 signatures. To compensate for smaller gauge, I cast on 37 stitches and added 2 repeats of the 2 row inc and 1 more repeat of the 4 row inc.
