Sand stitch goes a lot faster than fabric stitch. I co 40 sts, it is a little more spread-y than fabric stitch. Should be fine, though. Mom’s not a stickler.

2-27-15 First half-potholder (two are typically sewn together) is done. This softer looser fabric is not going to be dense enough to block the heat, so I am doing a stockinette middle layer, which is cast on and about 2” tall at the moment.

3-6-2015 Center filler is complete and cast off. Second patterned part cast on.
