Notes

Handspun Falkland handpainted wool roving from Three Waters Farm. I had a little over 4 ounces of fiber left over from another project and decided to spin up some lace weight. Turned out more of a light fingering weight. It knit up beautifully in this great pattern. This was a quick knit for me. Start to finish in less than a week. Whew! My granddaughter will love it. I just wish I’d had a bit more yarn for a bigger shawl. Started with 4.25 ounces. Used 3.75 ounces and the .5 ounces leftover would not have been enough to size up by another two rows of the small leaves.

This design looks a lot more complex than it is. The small leaf pattern is easy. The border I would rate moderately difficult due to my inability to fully understand or actually see the large leaves as I worked them. I have never knitted so blindly and was sure I was going to botch the border. I came through without the usual traumatic multi-row rip-outs thanks to the excellent instructions. Plan to knit a larger one for myself. Soon.
