Notes

As I learned from the books, stockings were never worn on Vormsi island (which was inhabited by the Coastal Swedes), but red legwarmers were a constant part of the everyday clothing of the women of Vormsi. And they were worn together with white socks.

This pattern asks for fine yarn and fine needles.

I checked the suggested yarns and compared that gauge with the my gauge of Teksrena Knitting Wool and needles #2.

Next reason to choose that wool:
I have enough red Teksrena Knitting Wool in my stash, but unfortunately only 50g skeins of the HEA yarn in some colours ….

I will combine these legwarmes with the corresponding white socks from Vormsi Island (see page 297) so that I will be well prepared when I leave to Latvia and Estonia end of June.

There is a small error in the english text: you have to increase from 120 stitches to 142

My gauge was tighter than usual (I learn that this depends on your momentaneous mood) and this is my final result:

CO 111 stitches with #2,5, immediately change to #2,0
30 rounds ribbing (k2p1)
10 rounds stockinette
5x 4 increases every 11th round

10 rounds

decreases:

1x 4 decrease + 8 rounds
3x 4 decreases every 6th round
2x 4 decreases every 5th round
3x 4 decreases every 4th roud
2x 4 decreases every 3rd round
2x 4 decreases every 2nd round
1 x 4 decreases

4 rounds ribbing k2p1
1 round knit
2 round purl
1 round bind off elastic
