It is so nice to have talented friends in the yarn business.
One of them came with something so beautiful I just had to design something aspecially for that yarn.

And so here is Bijou, a lace shawl design made for Lofty Lace by Great British Wool.
The yarn is a 2-ply lace yarn made of 50% wool, 40% mohair and 10% silk. The hand dyed colours are just stunning and it knits like a dream.

Bijou has 3 big different motifs that are related to each other. It’s not too compicated so it’s a good lace shawl if you are a novice to lace knitting.
Bijou combines different tradtional motifs from Shetland, Orenburg and Estonia on a garter stitch background.
And Bijou has 760 beads for some extra glamour and sparkle.

There are 3 charts as well as writen instructions.
It’s easy to adjust the lenght of the shawl by leaving out or adding one of the repeats.
The shawl is knitted in 2 parts and starts with a provisional cast on.

Bijou heeft 3 grote motieven die gerelateerd zijn aan elkaar. Bijou is niet te moeilijk en dus een goed patroon als je nog niet zoveel ervaring hebt met kant breien.
Bijou combineert verschillende traditionele motieven uit Shetland, Orenburg en Estland op een in ribbelsteek ondergrond.
En Bijou heeft 760 kraaltjes voor wat extra glamour en schittering.

Naast de geschreven instructies zijn er 3 telpatronen.
De lengte van de shawl is eenvoudig aan te passen door een van de charts weg te laten of juist toe te voegen.
De shawl wordt in 2 delen gebreid en start met een tijdelijke opzet. (provisional cast on)
