modifications
knitting from centre to edges (to get centre to be cream) so had to rejig chart. using judy’s magic cast on.

Increase 3 sts to 15 sts: K3tog but do not drop sts from left needle; yo, k3tog seven times in same 3 sts, then drop sts from left needle. (from fleece by k foley). further, for the three sts that will be knit together, make each elongated by wrapping the yarn twice. On the next row, when you come to make the 15 sts into those 3 sts, slip all three sts to the right needle, dropping extra loops. Equalise the length of the 3sts and slip back to the left needle. Continue as per chart.

also knit in stocking st directly above the 3into15 sts.

9 sept - wove in the ends!!
31 jul 14 - not quite a year! It’s blocking!!
17 aug - cast off!!
16 aug - finished the last row!! Casting off now. Happy happy.
13 aug - did the difficult row of rpt 6. smooth knitting from here. am a third of the way through row 4. must remember that i missed out the third yarnover in the first st rpt.

30 mar 13 - finished rpt 5!! Took 5 months. Ouch.

11 mar 13 - hooray! picked this up again, knit some of row 1, rpt 5 after casting off eris. when i finish this, i might even embark on something … new!!

25 oct - look at that, took me a month to do another repeat. A bit discouraged unfortunately. It’s turning out just as I envisioned, just not sure whether I actually like it.

28 sep - one half done. need to do stretchy bind off on purl side, lace bind off on purl side.

4 sep 12 - easy knitting now. Each row is quite simple, just knit it 21 times. Have finished a dark stretch and am moving into grey. Can’t wait to see how it looks as each shade takes its place. Have completed almost one rpt. (also turns out that white goes to oyster and back to white again, so fact that I have added in a bit of white/oyster that will join up with white again should be fine.)

2 sep 12 - hard going, just getting all the needles and threads in the right order. Have done about 5 rows and it is getting easier. 2 rows in one direction and am onto the third in the other which involves making 15 sts from 3. Not fiddly so much as demanding. I also cheated a bit on colour changes by taking some pale yarn from another ball so the colour progression will not be the same on both sides. But may have mucked that up a bit because it started to get dark and now I’ll be going back to the white of the original ball. Oh well, it’ll all blend in.

1 sep 12 - ok, actually cast on, what a task, 884 sts for 21 rpts of 21 sts. Actually knotted two balls together and cast on from there so no short end and each ball will be to knit in one dire tion. Then start knitting in garter st in the round in both directions. It’s cumbersome. Seem to have lost a st too somehow. Must look tomorrow at how to fix that.

18 may - first 2 rpt wide swatch in zauberball on 3mm needles. think it may be too loose. Does measure 3.5” but does not have enough body.

will try 2.75mm and 2.5mm next.

1 rpt - 3.5” wide
large - cast on 546 sts (26 rpts), measures 91” (231cm). Not sure whether I want it this long; might settle for 22 rpts.
