I was going to skip my office Christmas party until I heard it was ugly sweater themed. I have all this old acrylic in garish red and green I can use up. Also some fluffy white polyester yarn that was a clearance impulse buy at JoAnn.

My squares came out larger but I didn’t want to go down in hook size because the fabric would be too stiff, so I worked the size small directions to get a size large sweater.

Mods: Seamed shoulders and sides after front and back panels were done. Crocheted sleeves in the round directly onto the armholes shoulder down, did some decreases along the way and the knit the cuffs in 1x1 ribbing. For the neck, I worked the round of single crochet as directed, then picked up stitches and knit 1x1 ribbing in the round for 10 rounds before binding off. I skipped the ribbing on the hem and did a bobble stitch edging, which looks like little snowballs.

I decided I needed something on the solid green on the back shoulders (wish I had striped), so I crocheted the snowflakes and appliquéd them on, also embroidered a few more small snowflakes. I also embroidered stars in gold on the treetops.

This thing turned out big and bulky, but truthfully not so ugly. It just screams Christmas. My daughters have both put in requests to wear it so it will get some use after my office Christmas party. And I used up most of that old stiff acrylic.

I would like to use this pattern again in a softer lighter weight yarn, maybe for a sweater for my granddaughter.
