Couldn’t get enough skeins of the grey yarn, so I am alternating the grey with a slightly variegated grey.

Mid Feb - first welt completed, colour changed (using the darning needle join described in Ch2).

August - At the fifth welt, having purchased some longer cables, I decided to lay it down and look at it in the round. There should be 8 sections, not 9. Frogging right back to the start…

Update January 2015
So it is now two years since the first cast on and 18 months since the second. I stalled last winter at about the 40% part and got distracted by knitting socks. I picked it up over Christmas and have put some serious time into it. I think I’m approaching 70% complete now, and have bought a backup skein of yarn in case it runs out.
I’ve now knitted far enough to understand the schematic and see how it is going together.
