Notes

Well, these sat unfinished in my nightstand for 8 years, but I finished them finally, and am happy with them! Not sure why I lost the mojo, but glad I got it back enough to finish them!

And Christmas too. But a man who has been married to me for 7 years surely deserves some flip tops, in addition to a hat, for the wool anniversary.

Cable CO 40 sts. Knit 2.5” in twisted ribbing, then stockinette for a while (~1.5”), then made a thumb gusset with 3 sts stockinette at the base, with MIB, k_, M1R increases every other round until 11 sts wide, then knit for another 1”. Transferred thumb gusset sts to scrap yarn, CO 4 sts and knit for 1” more, then k2tog at beginning of round and knit in twisted rib for another 1.5”.

For flap, provisional CO 42, knit for 21 rows, then knit to 3 sts before other side, k2tog, k2, ssk, knit to 3 sts before end of row, k2tog, k1, and in next row k1, ssk, then knit to end of row. Continue this way, doing decreases every other row until 11 sts left on each side. Then decreases every row until 7 sts left on each side, then Kitchener closed.

Stitched top to just under ribbing, with 15 sts bound off at center palm (stitched 27 sts).

For thumb, provisional CO 18, knit for 2” (18 rows), then divided onto three needles, and SSK first 2 sts on needle, and K2tog last 2 stitches on needle. Knit next row. Repeated decrease row, then pulled end through the 6 sts on needle.
