Lovelyarns opened in 2006 in a tiny space above another shop in Hampden with the goal of creating an environment where stitchers of all skill levels would feel welcome. Prior to opening, Sue, our intrepid founder, visited yarn stores along the east coast, and was surprised to find shops whose staff were dismissive or even rude to customers. We at Lovelyarns pride ourselves on offering a different level of service and kindness, and this has helped us grow to be a vibrant community of local crafters.

In 2007 we moved into a larger space down the street, where we flourished and grew for the next 5 years. We now occupy both floors of a bright sunny space at the corner of Falls and 36th Street with plenty of room for expanded inventory and classes.

Specializing in locally hand-dyed and handspun yarns, the shop offers a wide selection of natural fibers. Classes range from “Learn to Knit” to “Bonkers for Brioche!” Winners of Baltimore Magazine’s “best Knitting Shop” and CityPaper’s “Best Yarn Store”. Lovelyarns loves to encourage “Yarn Storming” (knitted graffiti) and experimenting with your stitching by including new and interesting fibers and techniques in your work while playing with all the gorgeous things on our NEW Yarn Tasting Wall! The shop is always actively involved in several charity projects including our 500 Hats Project, Mother Bear Project, and Knitted Knockers.
