Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Agner is a cosy, nearly weightless, reversible shawl worked in an all over textured pattern. It is simple to knit and a joy to wear.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This luxurious, reversible, textured shawl is both lightweight and cozy. It is made from the neckline out as four fused triangles with sequence knitting, and is a perfect way to show off a luxurious fingering yarn in a solid color like Nature’s Luxury Farouche.
Knitting: Cowl
Barnett uses six analogous colors to create fifteen marls.
Knitting: Scarf
These patterns are an amazing way to experience the magic of marling and to play with many colors.
Knitting: Scarf
This textured scarf was designed for the beautiful, rustic 2018 Castlemilk Moorit DK yarn by Rachel Atkinson, aka Daughter of a Shepherd. The rare Castlemilk Moorit breed has a naturally cinnamon-colored fleece, and the lofty woolen-spun yarn is perfect for a strongly textured, graphic pattern.
Knitting: Scarf
Cayley is a cozy, generous scarf with horizontal and vertical lines in a soft grid. It’s made in North Light Fibers Spring Street, which is a fingering merino, and Forever Lace, which is an alpaca lace. The kit is available here.

Knitting: Scarf, Shawl / Wrap
Colortunes is a generous and luxurious scarf made with sequence knitting and marls. There are three colors in a thicker yarn that determine the gauge and palette, and two colors in a carrier yarn that modulates or tunes the colors. The stripes are laid out in varying orders so the colors are evenly distributed, and only one strand changes at a ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This generous and cheerful piece is the first of a series of marls-based colorwork shawls. Colorwork Series No. 1 is a shawl using ten base colors worked doubled to create marl stripes. The marl sequence is inspired by traditional colorwork knitting.
Knitting: Poncho
Curious Calm is a gauzy, lightweight poncho. It is worked as a textured parallelogram with a syncopated sequence knitting pattern and joined with a three-needle bind off to create a three-dimensional object.
Knitting: Cowl, Beanie, Toque
Double Dual is a hat and cowl set worked in an easy textured pattern in the round. The texture is juxtaposed with stockinette in two tonal colors, and because it is reversible, it can be turned up to adjust the fit of the hat from slouchy to close. This design was created to celebrate the fall 2021 Nature’s Luxury retreat in Germany.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Elisabetta is an ephemeral, reversible shawl worked at a gauzy gauge in a geometric knit-purl damask pattern. Is it lace? Yes, but there are no yarn-overs. It is created from a single skein of beautiful Shimmering Tussah from A Verb for Keeping Warm. The silk tussah yarn is a 2-ply with a suble tooth which helps the fabric meld like a wool, whi...
Knitting: Cowl
The Ella Improv is an improvisational cowl using a simple swirl from sequence knitting and two-strand marl stripes. It has been included in many of my 2020 classes on Marls and Color, and is now also available as a separate pattern.
Knitting: Cowl
Fifty Fifty is a cosy cowl with a bold, graphic design worked in luxurious June Cashmere DK. It’s a 50-50 split between two colors, and between knitting and purling.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Finsen was inspired by the Tokyo Shawl. It uses a gradient on gradient marl sequence with a thin pop of color between the movements to add visual interest and to make the knitting swap one strand. The fabric is the same as the Tokyo Shawl: Isager Spinni with Isager Alpaca 1.
Knitting: Scarf
Goethe is a generous parallelogram wrap or scarf with four colors tied together by a common strand. It’s worked on the bias in silk and cotton at a gauzy gauge so it has a lot of drape.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Hamaya is a lightweight, textured, drapey, reversible shawl created with Sequence Knitting. The pattern uses the shaped 1-row method - every row is worked the same. An increase at the end of the row creates the shaping. The fiber is silk-ramie, except for the contrasting stripe, which is wool-paper, making Hamaya ideal for wearing in warm weath...
Knitting: Cowl
This nearly weightless and super soft cowl has a bold graphic design created with sequence knitting on the bias followed by a three-needle bind off to create a cylinder shape.
Knitting: Cardigan
IBE is an oversized cardigan/vest that can be dressed up or down. It is ideal for layering. IBE stands for Inspired By Eskandar, the British clothing designer. Knitting: Poncho
Keeley is a poncho inspired by the well-known Easy Folded Poncho by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas. It is an example of what you can do with four colors making six marls.

Knitting: Scarf
Makige is a scarf or shawl worked in Ito Tsuchi and Shio. This is Sequence Knitting: an easy to work 1-row pattern that results in a reversible and complex fabric. The slow color changes in the yarns do the hard work.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Munsell is a breezy, lightweight shawl made from five colors of silk noil lace. The five colors are marled together to create ten marl stripes.
Knitting: Cowl
Otte is a luxe cowl, wrap, or poncho created with sequence knitting. In sequence knitting a sequence of stitches is repeated over and over to build up a textured, and in this case, reversible fabric. The shape is a twisted parallelogram and can be challenging to visualize in 2 dimensions, but allows for interesting ways for the piece to drape.
Knitting: Scarf, Shawl / Wrap
Piet is a soft and luscious scarf or shawl in a nuanced grid pattern using sequence knitting. It is a delight for the skin and the eye and an easy project to knit. A luxury for the knitter and the wearer.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
“Reflected is a reversible shawl made of two mirrored parallelograms in a biased rib. The two parallelograms together make a form that resembles a pair of wings and drapes naturally over the body in a comforting way. The fabric is a mix of two lace-weight yarns from two different brands. One is a soft Corriedale-Merino blend, and the other is a...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern was originally from Rib Magazine and is now re-issued as a Ravelry pattern.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap

Knitting: Cowl
This reversible and featherweight cowl is based on the 1-row method in Sequence Knitting.
Knitting: Cowl
Engaging sequence work is offset with a delicate stockinette panel making this ample cowl cozy and luxurious.

Twigs on the left and Gravel on the right are two highly textured triangular shawls. Every row begins with the same sequence and ends with a double increase to form the triangle. These pieces exhibit one of the “miracles” of sequence knitting: the patterns are the same, except Twigs is worked over an even number of stitches, while Gravel is wor...
