Gangbit is a hat conceived to use up some of these small 25g balls of wool I seem to keep collecting. The hat that emerged from this experiment is very lightweight and pocket-able, but surprisingly warm due to the stranded colorwork.

This is a tough hat that’s made to get wet and still keep you warm. It should feel heavy for its size, it should be tightly knit, it should stand up on its own before broken in, it should smell like a sheep, and will probably outlast you.

This is a basic toe up ribbed sock pattern. It’s a good “first toe up” pattern to try, and is a very functional sock because of the ribbing.
