This pattern is very adaptable. You can use any weight yarn or needle size. Test your gauge and calculate what size you want. Cast on a multiple of 4 and you should be able to adjust.

Gauge was kind of a guess. It’s not vital, since you can increase until the hat is as wide as you like and you can do extra repeats to make the hat longer as well. Just make sure the number of stitches is divisible by 13.

Pattern is written for 9” long, but you can easily add more rows in the pencil length to make it longer.

Finished project is 20 inches around and 23 inches long.
