A Yarn from North Ronaldsay is based on the Orkney Island of the same name, producing yarn from the fleeces of the rare, seaweed-eating North Ronaldsay sheep. The company runs a mini-mill which has enabled the island’s farmers to get the best possible return on the wool of the native sheep, thus helping the local economy as well as the future of the breed.

The fleece of the breed is double-coated, and the yarn is spun from the very soft and warm undercoat, producing a wonderful, characterful knitting wool. Available in a range of natural colours, from white through various shades of grey and brown to almost black.
