A naturally black wool, the Hebridean sheep can be found off the west coast of Scotland on the The Hebrides. This dense wool is well suited to outerwear, blankets and rugs. The dyed colours are subtle yet dark, and moody which is why I have added a photograph of colourways next to each other, to show them off. This yarn has a count of 33 - 38 microns and is ever so slightly on the lighter side of fingering weight, making this suitable for patterns needing 3ply or 4ply yarn. Who says only merino should be hand dyed, right?
