Subliminal - handspun mohair/Romney wool/alpaca yarn

The fleece for this unusual yarn was grown on the plateau across our valley at Blue Horse Farm & Fiber. Normally, I’m not a fan of Romney wool; it’s often pretty harsh (read: durable), but this is exceptionally soft. If you’ve been to the Romney Marshes, you know in olden days, a woman would make a blanket out of this wool during courtship and then wrapped herself up in it on her 50th wedding anniversary, fully expecting to will it to her grandchildren.
Back to the yarn: The Mohair has been dyed to a rainbow of colors, the alpaca and Romney are their natural dark colors. When light hits this wool, it sparkles with tiny glints of color from the mohair with the sort of subtlety that makes you turn and look again.
This would make a spectacular coat or cape or even used as a weft for a blanket. Some coat examples from Ravelry (with modification for gauge) would be #41 Walnut or snowbird-2 or #39 Regal or annikki or brendalynn or cassis-2. There is enough yardage (nearly a mile and a quarter) for any of those but if you need more, convo me. Visit my Facebook site for more about the yarn: Edgewood Garden Studio.
