Organic Merino 800

Handdyed Organic Merino 800 consists of 100% non-superwashed organic merino wool and has a yardage of 800 meters per 100g. Organic Merino 800 is a 2-ply yarn spun at a small mill in Italy.
Organic merino sheep are fed exclusively with organic feed that is free from pesticides and NON-GMO. The sheep are on pasture their whole life.
The wool is only washed prior to spinning and otherwise not further treated, which preserves the wool’s fine properties (water and dirt repellent, self-cleaning, etc.).
The quality is incredibly soft and absolutely “non-scratchy.”
Since it is a rather fine yarn, it works perfectly as a companion thread, knitted together with another type of yarn. Alternatively, it can be knitted with 2, 3, or more strands held together, allowing for a stunning color play and marled effects. Of course, it can also be knitted on its own.
The yarn is suitable for a wide range of projects, from garments to various accessories, such as feather-light shawls and much more. Organic Merino 800 can be knitted with many different needle sizes. For example, knit a sweater with 4 strands held together on 7 mm needles for an exciting and vibrant color effect, or create a light and airy lace shawl with 3 mm needles.
We achieve the following gauge:
1 strand on 3 mm needles: 28 stitches/10 cm
1 strand + 1 strand silk mohair on 3,5 mm needles: 21 stitches/10 cm
2 strands on 3,5 mm needles: 21 stitches/10 cm
3 strands on 4 mm needles: 18 stitches/10 cm
4 strands on 5 mm needles: 16 stitches/10 cm
4 strands on 6 mm needles: 15 stitches/10 cm
NOTE. Please note that the yarn is hand-dyed in small batches, and colors may vary from dye lot to dye lot.
