ニッティングバードの一期一会糸は工場の残糸や糸商の処分糸を集め、新しい糸に生まれ変わらせて皆さまにお届けしているアップサイクルな取り組みです。

細すぎて手編みだと難しい工業用の糸を、手編みや手織りで扱いやすいように３本以上引き揃えてお作りしています。

一期一会糸（引き揃え 工業用糸）が出来るまで

ニッティングバードは取材やニット製品の生産のために日本各地のニット工場を訪問しています。工場を俯瞰で見るといろいろな問題を見えてきて、一つの問題に行き着きました。
「製品を作るのに残った糸はどうなるのか？」ということです。
普通はニット工場に生産をお願いする際、工場側が直接糸商と取引をして糸を購入します。生産をしている最中に、少なからず糸は残糸として必ず残ります。
私たちがニット工場にお願いして生産する際には、自分たちで直接糸商と取引して糸を発注しているので、生産後の「残った糸の回収」を必ず行います。この糸を回収するところから「一期一会糸」が生まれました。

組成とオススメの使用針サイズ

一期一会糸は様々な種類の糸を混ぜて引き揃えているため、組成表示は曖昧になっています。これは家庭品質表示法に基づき、表記しています。

Ichigo-ichie Yarn by Knittingbird – A Thoughtful Upcycling Project

-What is Ichigo-ichie Yarn?
Knittingbird’s Ichigo-ichie Yarn is an upcycled yarn series created by collecting leftover threads from knitting factories and unused stock from yarn suppliers. These yarns are reborn into unique, limited-edition skeins and delivered to knitters like you.

To make these fine industrial threads easier to use for hand knitting or weaving, we combine three or more strands into one — turning what was once too thin into a beautifully balanced yarn, ready for your next project.

How Ichigo-ichie Yarn Comes to Life

Knittingbird regularly visits knitting factories across Japan for interviews and production of original knitwear. Through these visits, we began to see a common problem:

-What happens to the leftover yarn after production?
In most cases, factories purchase yarn directly from wholesalers for each order. After production, some yarn always remains — unused and often discarded.

When we work with these factories, we source yarn ourselves and take responsibility for collecting any leftovers. That’s where Ichigo-ichie Yarn began — giving these remnant threads a second life.

Composition & Recommended Needles

Since Ichigo-ichie Yarn is created by blending various kinds of yarns, exact fiber content may vary. We label all yarns in accordance with Japan’s Household Goods Quality Labeling Law.
