I’m Jen from Jenjoyce Design. For fun and past-time I make yarn from commercial yarns, of a few different sources, but most of them sourced from Peruvian Highlands or Irish Tweed.

  • “DK Peruvian Superwash” is approximately 252y and 100g of Corriedale-Merino cross breed sourced from Peru. I created this yarn wanting a 100% superwash non-merino wool yarn that has rustic appeal, is durable, and machine washable.

  • I make it by dividing the plies of worsted bulky weight superwash, then re-plying them with extra twist to make into a durable fast-knitting fluffy sock yarn with 2 plies.

  • Note that yardage does seem to change approx 8% in this process. “Theoretic” is 274y (twice the bulky orig skein listed yardage) , and actual measured is close to 8% less than that, at 252y, depending on the hand-manipulated process, of plying, number of times re-skeining, etc.

  • I created this yarn for fast knitting heavy & durable boot socks, wanting a rustic 100% superwash non-merino wool yarn.

As yet this yarn is not available to purchase, yet quite a bit of it is making it into the stashes through friendship & test-knitting gifts, so I felt it a good idea to start the process of making a brand name of it. If you have a question about Un-Spun, please contact me here on Ravelry. Thank you!
