Baby Merino 4 ply is a beautiful blend of baby alpaca and merino wool in a standard 4 ply weight and construction (4/16nm). Baby Alpaca is one of the most luxurious fabrics in the world. It is incredibly warm, light weight and strong. It has hypoallergenic properties, it contains no lanolin, which makes the fibre safe to wear if you have skin allergies. Alpaca is said to be three times warmer than sheep’s wool, the fibres have excellent insulation properties whilst remaining light and breathable. The 21 micron merino fibre is extremely fine, it has natural elasticity which helps a garment stretch yet return back to its original shape and is also lovely and warm.

The merino is mulesing free and comes from South America. The yarn is 100% animal fibre and perfect for dyeing. To be successful we recommend using acid or natural dyes to create bright and vibrant colours but the yarn is perfectly pale in its natural colour so will create lighter or more pastel shades well. Baby Merino 4 ply is especially suited to weaving, knitting and crochet; making scarves, shawls, wraps, baby and adult garments.
