Inspired by our love for British breeds, we at The Woolly Thistle, chose Dorset wool as the base for our yarn. A medium wool with a down-like feel and squish, Dorset wool is springy and bouncy, slightly rustic and wonderfully woolly without being coarse or prickly. Corriedale and Romney give additional softness and strength and a bit of depth as the Romney is a natural gray. Our new 3-ply fingering weight yarn is strong enough for socks but versatile enough for a wide array of projects.

Structurally, Rambler Yarn is a 3-ply, light fingering with a twist designed for socks. Of course, it’s not just for socks! Some of our favorite knitting is colorwork knitting and we’ve chosen sturdy breeds with British heritage so Rambler will hold up beautifully in the form of stranded colorwork garments, or in solid colored garments with plenty of texture.
