Ravelry meetup at New York State Sheep and Wool Festival, October 2019

About Ravelry

Ravelry is an inclusive, friendly website for knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, and dyers. We are made up of millions of yarn lovers from all over the world. Ravelry provides a personal notebook for fiber artists to keep track of their projects, yarns & fibers, tools, and pattern library, a rich database of patterns and yarns, and a community with thousands of forums and groups to connect with other Ravelers over any interest you could think of.

Everything on Ravelry is user-driven: we all help to make the site useful and fun. We are happy you are here! There are three main areas of Ravelry for you to explore:

The Database

At the heart of Ravelry is the world's most extensive database of patterns and yarns, with nearly half a million patterns available for immediate download right here on our site. You can filter your searches by hundreds of criteria to hone in on exactly what you are looking for and find your perfect project! You can also search directories of designers, pattern sources, local yarn stores, yarn brands, people, and more. Our database is entirely built by Ravelers, so you can add to it or help our volunteer editors make sure it's up to date and accurate.

Your Notebook

Your Ravelry notebook will help you keep track of your projects, stash, tools, and library, as well as plan what you want to make in the future and track your favorite things from all around the site. Project and stash entries connect to the main pattern database, linking you with other crafters worldwide, sharing information so that other Ravelers can see it when they are considering a project.

Our Community

Ravelry is your new virtual fiber circle with over 9 million yarn-loving friends! You can pop into the forums to ask questions or chat about patterns or projects, local fiber events, or even non-yarny subjects! Join a group focused on your favorite designer or shop, crafts or techniques, your local area, a craft-along, or other common interests. Adding Ravelers to your friends will let you follow along with what they are making - feel free to start with any of us on the Ravelry team. We love making friends!
