Sometimes I need something with a bit more espresso than a latte or a cappuccino. I love seeing those shots of espresso mark the foam and steamed milk. The raised rows on the outer sides of this sock pattern remind me of those espresso marks. I initially used this pattern with self-striping yarn in mind, but it would also go well with a solid or semi-solid yarn. It adds a bit more interest than a vanilla sock with an easy to memorize pattern repeat. Sizes are given for small, medium, and large, using fingering weight yarn.

The designer of these socks gives the knitters a choice of heels to use. She has used the Fish Lips Kiss Heel in the pattern which is a stand-alone pattern, (and provided a link to the FKL Heel page). It can be purchased for $1. An alternate free heel option is also provided.

A special thanks to my test knitters: Terry, Jan, Steph, and Dee!

There is a YouTube tutorial on the ix stitch.
