For Intermediate ability

Materials required:
Size 10 or 12 crochet thread in pink approximate thread requirements for a single colour carnation:
Large carnation - 125 yards/115 metres
Medium carnation - 80 yards/73 metres
Small or bud carnation - 40 yards/36 metres
NOTE: 1 x 50 g ball (309 yards/285 metres) will make 2 complete sets of flower heads. If working last round in alternate colour then 10-25 yards/10-23 metres of second colour is required per carnation
Plus for all carnations - Size 10 or 12 crochet thread in green (approx 6 yards/5 metres green per carnation); 1.5 mm hook; sewing needle; small amount of stuffing material; No. 18 weight green stem wires (one for each carnation in varying lengths); stems of assorted artificial greenery.
Optional - green florists tape to cover stems, cellophane for packaging, ribbon to tie around bouquet.

Approximate finished sizes:
Large carnations - 2½-inches/6 cm diameter of flower head. Medium carnation - 2-inches/5 cm diameter of flower head. Small carnation - 1½-inches/4 cm diameter of flower head. Carnation bud - 1¼-inches/3 cm diameter of flower head.

Gauge: is not important for this project as flowers come in various sizes.

This pattern has instructions available in both written and charted form

The instructions for the carnations come in four sizes, which can be mixed to give a more realistic looking bouquet.

Multiple carnations could be combined and arranged as a wedding bouquet. Single flower heads could be made and used as buttonholes or corsage at a wedding.
