Cerridwen is the Celtic Goddess of Inspiration. The Cerridwen Cowl is the result of inspiring conversations at knit night in a local coffee shop.

This simple cowl is made up of 4 rows of garter stitch followed by 2 rows of 1x1 rib stitch. The resulting fabric is almost identical on both sides, and the sides do not curl in. The loose gauge makes a soft and squishy and very quick and warm knit.

You will need two skeins, about 234 metres or 256 yards of bulky weight (12 ply) yarn to make a cowl long enough to wrap twice around your neck. You can make it longer, or shorter to suit your taste, keeping in mind the yardage requirements will change.

Gauge is not really important as long as you obtain a nice loose drapey fabric.

I used the crochet method of provisional cast on, but any method will work. I also used the kitchener stitch to graft the ends together. The cowl could also be started with any regular cast on, knit, and cast off and the ends just seamed together.
